Perth and Kinross-shire is a fantastic place to live and work, but we need more opportunities for young people - this includes for housing, study and work.
To make Perth and Kinross-shire a success in the future, we need more young people to work, live and build their lives here. People want a dynamic Perth City supported by vibrant towns and villages across our counties. Although all generations need to play their part to make this a success, we need more young people to build their businesses, families and lives across Perth & Kinross-shire.
My Record:
- Secured additional funding from the UK government as part of the Tay Cities deal for projects across Perth and Kinross-shire, all of which will provide employment opportunities for young people
- Engaged with schools, colleges and Scotland's Youth Parliament to open Westminster to them and demonstrate Westminster is their Parliament
- Championed young people and their local businesses in Parliament and across the UK
My Plan:
- Work with the local council to secure the redevelopment of empty buildings in Perth for new housing for young people
- Campaign for more funding for schools, and educational reform
- Push for more investment into our leisure facilities, including new swimming and curling facilities
- Establish a "Young Entrepreneurs Group" to help connect local entrepreneurs with funding and opportunities
- Rebuild the night and day time economy in Perth
- Champion the work of young carers and families in Parliament
